From now onwards shoppers using Google in the United States will start to see product ratings on product listing ads with the addition of seller review stars.
Google have stated that ‘this 5-star rating system represents aggregated rating and review data for the product, compiled from multiple sources including merchants, third party aggregators, editorial sites and users.’
Product ratings are currently only available in the United States and will only be available to those who choose to share ‘all of their product review content with Google’
Indexed reviews have been covered in past posts, but in short, Google will only include genuine 3rd party authenticated reviews, with a minimum star rating of 4 out of 5. We can provide a list of these if you contact us.
The advantage to merchants is that the conversion rates of adverts featuring review stars are generally better than those which do not; a principle that certainly applies to items within Shopping itself. Given the importance of peer reviews we would always suggest to merchants that these are deployed to reinforce the seller credentials of their website.
How to share Product Ratings
If you are in the U.S and you wish to enable product ratings on ads then visit this page and fill out the Product Rating Form.
As for all other merchants not based in the U.S, Google have stated they will be opening up this option to other countries in the coming months so we shall let you know as soon as we can.
As always don’t hesitate to contact us.
