Since Google started to crawl mobile landing pages last April to check for accuracy, we have seen these errors change from warnings on merchant accounts to product disapprovals.
That is now happening more and more frequently as Google knuckle down on errors. The key issue with this error is not only is the product deemed not to be mobile friendly and inaccessible from mobiles but Google completely disapprove the product from desktop searches as well.
There are two solutions to fix this error. The first is to completely optimise your site to be mobile user friendly. This way you will not have the problem of having alternative mobile device landing page URLs. The second solution is to have an alternative mobile friendly site on your main domain and provide the alternative URL pages in your source product feed as well as your desktop landing page URLs.
That way Google’s tests from mobile will have a positive result and allow products to be listed. Naturally, Google’s bots must be allowed access to test the mobile URLS (see our previous post on robot blockers and Google’s access requirements).
