Media and Software Products – Changes in Google Shopping Requirements

Google has now tightened up product listing requirements in terms of the additional attributes that must be included within feeds for certain verticals, specifically relating to merchants selling media (such as DVD, CD) and software.

Within your feed provided you must now provide a GTIN otherwise your products cannot be uploaded and will be removed from Google Shopping.

Where Google refers to GTIN (Global Trade Identification Number) this is typically the EAN (European Article Number) or barcode in common parlance, or the UPC (Universal Product Code).

Such numbers are commonly published by manufacturers and are included on product packaging (in most cases).  Feed Manager can find and store relevant barcodes for you should you want this service.
